The Convention Theme
In order to run a business that is successful in the long run it requires more than the mere provision of customers with innovative products, quality and services. The right corporate philosophy is decisive for staff retention, company performance and a positive perception among stake- and shareholders.
“Social responsibility in business routine” is the keyword.
But is ethical behavior worth the effort or is it inconsistent with premises of business like rationality and profit maximization? Is the announcement of a company’s social responsible deeds to the public sometimes not more than a means to an end? Are employees and customers simply figures in a system intending to equalize supply and demand day per day?
The first SiB Business Week will deal with the theme “Think Global, Act Noble - Social Responsibility at the Economic and Corporate Level”.
Representatives of economy and science will be giving presentations on sense and utility of ethical behavior in business life and the social accountability towards employees, customers and the society.
Do values create values? By means of several case studies we will seek to answer this question. International speakers – for instance from England and Rumania – will compare approaches within German companies to act socially responsible with those of foreign countries of Europe.
We also want to take a glance at the future. Will socially responsible acting out of conviction develop from being an exception to becoming the rule and will it characterize everyday business decisions?
We are looking forward to companies and professors who are aware of the significance of social responsibility in business, act accordingly and would like to share their personal values and company concepts with us students as well as professors and colleagues from the economy.
