Open University

At the day of the „Open University“ the teaching business at the UAS Bremen School of International Business will take place as usual. Yet no general economic theory will be taught but guest speakers will give presentations related to the SiB Business Week central theme.

The SiB-Congress

The Sib-Congress has been planned and hosted by students of the international bachelor course “Tourisms Management” (ISTM) and “Applied Leisure Sciences” (ISAF) since 2003 on a regular basis within the framework of the “Learners’ Company” module. Each year this business congress focuses on a topic currently discussed in public. In 2009 the motto was “What BRIC’t the future – Brazil – Russia – India – China; growth markets of tomorrow?”. The SiB-Congress considers itself a platform where university knowledge encounters practical experiences of business companies.

The concept of the Learners’ Company has been developed to offer students the unique opportunity to apply their textbook knowledge to real projects. Each year numerous project ideas suggested by nationally and internationally operating companies are implemented by committed and motivated students. Those range from analyzing companies’ corporate image over wide case studies and the development of marketing concepts to questions regarding quality management.
As the Learners’ Company’s most prestigious projects both the organization of the SiB-Congress and of the participation in the International Tourism Fair (ITB) in Berlin covers two semesters.

On the Learners‘ Company website all projects of he last eight years have been listed. Additionally detailed descriptions of all concepts implemented in 2009 are provided.

The EFA-Symposium

The EFA-Symposium has been organized by students for already 8 years. It builds up a relationship between students and practical experience. Representatives of different firms (e.g. Deloitte, UBS, Kraft Foods) will give oral presentations to provide an insight into their business.
In addition to the presentations there will be workshops run by the representatives. They provide students with the chance to apply their theoretical knowledge to real-world business problems.

Business stands will give students the chance to get in contact with the firms and ask further questions.

The Symposium will be completed by the traditional evening event. At this occasion students and representatives can improve previous contacts and continue conversations within an informal atmosphere.

The AWS Forum

We would like to invite you to participate in the AWS Forum 2010, the 7th installment of the congress takes place as a part of the SiB Business Week .under the leading title "Think Global, Act Noble - Social Responsibility at the Economic and Corporate Level". Like the study program "Applied Business Languages and International Management" B.A. (AWS), the aim of the forum is to bridge the gap between Germany and global economic regions like the Arabic World, China or Japan.

Using proven concepts the Forum delivers firsthand-information about the individual corporate culture of the regions, insights into daily business and, moreover, the opportunity for social networking with decision makers involved in economy, politics or research and development. Furthermore, the event is organized to be a platform interaction between qualified high potentials and representatives of globally operating companies."
